George Michael - Singer/Songwriter
NPS brings us the documentary 'George Michael: A Different Story' on Saturday May 17, 2008 at 9.15 pm on Nederland 3, after they already aired it last year.

George Michael’s been pop royalty ever since he took the charts by storm with Wham! in 1982. He's been a solo star for 25 years achieving huge international success with hits like 'Faith' to current album 'TwentyFive'.
In this NPS documentary 'George Michael: A Different Story', George gives a brutally honest guided tour of his life, opening up for the first time about the extraordinary tension between his personal and professional life. He takes us back to his childhood, and he and Andrew Ridgeley get together to discuss the Wham! years. He talks about dealing with the pain of losing his Brazilian boyfriend Anselmo to Aids at the same time as giving one of his most powerful and poignant performances of his career at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert in 1992. He addresses the battles he had with Sony in the early 90s and honestly discusses the controversial incident in LA and the ramifications following it. He talks about his attempts to attack the superpowers' foreign policy in song and discloses many more intriguing aspects of his life and career that he previously kept concealed.

In addition to previously unseen and candid material of George himself, the documentary has special contributions from the likes of Noel Galagher, Geri Halliwell, Elton John, Boy George, Mariah Carey and Andrew Ridgeley.
